Inside: Half-Life 3 may become the launch game for Steam Machine and release in March 2026
Gamers continue to feverishly search for hints about the possible announcement and release date of Half-Life 3 — one of the most anticipated games in the industry's history.
Insiders and analysts put forward a huge number of versions, with even more speculation and conjecture. But the Big Announcement from Valve: The Company Introduced Three New Devices — the Stationary Console Steam Machine, Steam Controller 2, and VR Headset Steam Frame has reshuffled all the cards.
What is known
On the regular Insider Gaming podcast, authoritative journalist Tom Henderson made a loud statement claiming that Half-Life 3 could become one of the games that will “sell” the Steam Machine.
Thus, Henderson expects that the continuation of the physicist-nuclear scientist Gordon Freeman's story, which fans have been waiting for more than fifteen years, will be released in March 2026, simultaneously with the Steam Machine, as well as with the Steam Controller 2 and Steam Frame VR headset.
At the same time, Henderson's co-host Mike Straw noted that the announcement of Half-Life 3 is expected soon, but it will definitely not happen at The Game Awards 2025, as a game of such scale and significance does not need to participate in such events.
In the gaming community, there is a theory that the debut trailer for Half-Life 3 will be presented from mid-November to early December, as Valve has postponed all events and promotions on Steam to this period and also launched the Autumn Sale on an unusual date (end of September instead of the standard end of November).
In short, there is no specific information, but a combination of factors indicates the imminent announcement of Half-Life 3.
