ASUS released Android 16 update for ROG Phone 9 and ZenFone 12 Ultra

The company ASUS released a stable version update of Android 16 for its two flagships – the gaming ROG Phone 9 and the premium ZenFone 12 Ultra. Five months after the release of Android 16 in June, users of these devices have gained access to operating system updates.

What is known

The update has build number 36.0810.1810.43. To check its availability, simply go to the Settings, System, System Update menu. At the same time, ASUS warns that the update will be rolled out gradually, depending on the device's serial number, so some users will have to wait a bit for the FOTA notification.

Main changes for ROG Phone 9:

  • Upgrade to Android 16 with new features.
  • Improved Predictive Back animation available via back gesture or long press of the return button.
  • An option to quickly summon the digital assistant with a long press of the power button has appeared in the advanced settings.
  • Added a skip countdown button during screen recording.
  • Ability to copy IMEI or serial number with a long press in the "About phone" section.
  • Fixed an issue with missing sound during calls via Bluetooth headset.
  • Updated game profiles and settings for AirTrigger and Macro for popular titles, including Genshin Impact, Mobile Legends, Free Fire, and others.
  • Warning: some third-party apps may not yet support Android 16.

What's new for ZenFone 12 Ultra:

  • Upgrade to Android 16.
  • Similar changes in Predictive Back animation and screen recording.
  • Added IMEI/serial number copying feature.
  • Warning regarding third-party app compatibility also remains relevant.
