Enthusiast connected AirPods to Android devices: LibrePods app appears on GitHub
Enthusiast developer Kavish Devar released the LibrePods app on the open platform GitHub, which allows you to use all the features of AirPods on Android devices.
What is known
With the LibrePods app, there is no longer a need to buy an iPhone, and Android users can confidently choose AirPods.
The author implemented support for all key features of AirPods Pro 2 and 3, while Kavish Devar notes that he does not have other Apple headphone models, so he cannot guarantee their compatibility with his app, but most likely they will also work with Android.
The Indian engineer implemented head tracking, automatic pause when removing headphones, active noise cancellation, transparency mode, and other important AirPods options, except for heart rate monitoring, and flexible settings will make using the headphones as comfortable as possible.
Root and the Xposed framework will be required to install LibrePods.
One question remains: will Apple require Kavish Devar's app to be removed from GitHub?
