Nissan has unveiled its first plug-in hybrid in the USA. However, the novelty is not unique - it is essentially a Mitsubishi Outlander that has received a Nissan badge and minimal visual changes.

What is Known

The hybrid system of the new Rogue PHEV includes two electric motors and a 2.4-liter gasoline engine, providing a total power of 248 horsepower and all-wheel drive. The car is capable of covering up to 61 kilometers exclusively on electricity thanks to a 20 kW·h battery.

Externally, the model differs with a signature grille, badges, and certain trim details, but otherwise completely replicates the Outlander, including the 20-inch wheels and black accents of the Black Edition version.

Inside, the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid offers a three-row layout for seven seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and a central 9-inch screen. The base package includes LED headlights, heated front seats, four USB ports, and a full set of electronic assistants, while the top Platinum version adds a leather interior, Bose sound system, and a panoramic roof.

The cost of the novelty has not yet been disclosed, but it is likely to be similar to the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, which starts at $40,445 USD. Sales of the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid will begin in early 2026.

The public presentation of the Nissan Rogue PHEV will take place at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 21.
