Ford, following Hyundai, started selling used cars on Amazon
American auto giant Ford Motor announced the launch of used car sales on the Amazon platform. Thus, the company joins Hyundai in the effort to simplify the online car purchase process for those who want to minimize interaction with dealerships.
What is known
Amazon users can browse and purchase Ford cars from the participating dealers' range. Initially, the program operates in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas. The offer is limited to certified used cars that have undergone thorough inspection and are sold with a special warranty.
According to Ford representatives, about 160–180 dealers expressed interest in the new project, and around twenty of them are already preparing to start online sales. Buyers will be able to complete the entire transaction online, but they will need to pick up the purchased car directly from the seller.
Context
In late 2023, Hyundai became the first automaker to list new models for sale on Amazon. Ford became the second brand to offer cars in the largest online store.
