Samsung is preparing a new Internet browser design in One UI 8.5
Samsung is working on the next update for its proprietary Samsung Internet browser. According to the latest data, the redesign will be implemented in version One UI 8.5, which is expected to be released early next year.
What is known
In the previous update, One UI 8.0, the browser did not undergo significant changes, as a major design update occurred earlier. However, according to leaks about version 29.1.2.23, the company is preparing a major visual overhaul.
The updated browser has received a new home screen and a revised address bar. It is styled in a "liquid glass" design, divided into two parts. On the left is the home icon and site address; on the right are quick access buttons for tabs, settings, and the help feature.
The browser menu has been changed to a vertical pop-up window, replacing the previous grid that opened with a swipe from the bottom. Users will still be able to customize the placement of buttons and interface elements.
The new version offers three styles of address bar. The Compact option shows a short capsule-shaped bar near the bottom of the screen. The Standard style offers a longer version of the same bar. The Bottom option is similar to the current implementation in One UI 8.0.
Tabs can be viewed in three modes. Available options are list, grid, and stack. The new grid consists of two columns, with the number of rows changing depending on the number of open tabs.
Tab management is implemented through a new floating bottom panel in a capsule shape. Similar design solutions have also been noted in leaks concerning other One UI 8.5 applications, including Finder, Gallery, and Phone.
