The new MG S6 EV is cheaper than the Skoda Enyaq and travels up to 530 km on a single charge
MG has introduced the S6 EV crossover in the UK. Prices for the electric vehicle start at £37,995 (around €43,100).
What is known
The new model is an enlarged and more practical version of the S5 with high-mounted daytime running lights and a divided front grille inspired by the MG Cyberster roadster.
The front grille is equipped with active shutters. In combination with the wheel covers, such flaps help increase the vehicle's range by 48 kilometers.
Inside, the S6 is equipped with a 10.25-inch dashboard display and a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Top-spec Trophy models also have a head-up display for the driver.
The trunk volume is 674 liters with the rear seats up or 1910 liters folded. There is an additional cargo compartment of 124 liters under the hood at the front.
Two versions of the MG S6 will be available in the UK: the rear-wheel-drive Long Range with 244 hp, 350 Nm of torque, and a 530 km range; and the all-wheel-drive Dual Motor with 361 hp, 540 Nm of torque, and a 484 km range.
In normal driving mode, the Dual Motor operates as a rear-wheel-drive vehicle, engaging the front motor when limited traction is detected or full power is needed.
Both versions use a nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery with a capacity of 77 kWh. In the case of charging at up to 144 kW, the recharge time from 10 to 80% is 38 minutes.
The price of the S6 EV is lower than that of European competitors: from £37,995 (€43,100). For comparison, the starting price of the Skoda Enyaq is £39,010 (€44,265).
The cost of the Long Range Trophy version is £40,995 (€46,520), while the top-of-the-line Dual Motor Trophy model is £43,995 (€49,925).
