Nothing smartphones will receive Android 16 as early as November 21: the Nothing OS 4.0 firmware will introduce several important innovations

Nothing company has announced the release date for the new firmware for their smartphones based on Android 16, which focuses on minimalism, smoothness, and AI control.

What's known

Fans of the British brand won't have to wait long — the stable version of Nothing OS 4.0 will be released tomorrow — November 21, and will be available on all models except Nothing Phone (1), but some new features are being developed for it as well.

Key innovations of Nothing OS 4.0:

  • updated design: redesigned lock screen clocks, unified interface elements, and cleaner settings;
  • Extra Dark Mode: an even deeper dark theme — for comfort and energy savings, especially on OLED displays;
  • Pop-up View: support for two floating app icons for convenient multitasking mode;
  • TrueLens Engine: improved camera and gallery with new presets and intuitive controls;
  • AI control: transparent settings, status hints, and usage dashboard;
  • improved system stability, app launch speed, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi performance, and the lock screen has become more responsive.
