STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is already available on PlayStation 5 — the game runs even better on Sony's console than on Xbox Series
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has ceased to be an Xbox console exclusive and debuted on PlayStation 5. Many gamers eagerly awaited this release and, as the first test results show, the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World has done an excellent job of porting the shooter.
What is known
Although technically the Xbox Series X is more powerful than the PlayStation 5, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 runs even slightly better on the Japanese console.
Overall, both console versions demonstrate commendable performance, but the PS5 handles the dense foliage of the Chornobyl forests better, and overall texture quality is slightly higher than on Xbox, with graphics on the PS5 Pro being even better.
The loading speed is also impressive: thanks to the fast SSD, from the moment you select the game to the start of gameplay takes about 10 seconds, which is significantly faster than on the Xbox Series X.
In terms of performance, both console versions of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 show excellent and stable figures, but Xbox handles the loading of open locations a little better. However, Microsoft lacks the DualSense controller, which, with its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, enhances the immersion effect.
Gamers are offered a traditional choice between “Quality” mode with dynamic 4K but at 30 FPS or “Performance” with 60 FPS and slightly reduced resolution, but on PS5 Pro the compromise is less noticeable.
