Google Photos for Android will receive a feature for creating stickers from photos
Google Photos for Android may soon gain the ability to turn any image into a sticker. This update will allow you to cut out an object from a photo and save it as a sticker for use in other apps. The feature has long been available in the iOS version, and similar capabilities are also present in the proprietary firmware of Android devices from OPPO, OnePlus, and Vivo.
What is known
According to Android Authority, the new option is currently being tested in an internal version of the Google Photos app. Users will be able to press and hold on the main object in an image, after which the system will cut it out from the background. The fragment can then be copied or pasted into compatible apps as a sticker.
Aside from the cut-out function itself, the app's code reveals mentions of a "Stickers" section in the "Collections" tab, where it is likely that created stickers will be stored. Currently, this area is not fully functional, but it may become a repository for all user cut-outs in the future.
Interestingly, even on iOS, Google Photos does not have a separate sticker manager, offering only a basic cut and copy function. On Android, however, Google aims to provide broader capabilities, including saving and managing stickers.
There has been no official release yet, and the feature is still under development, with no known date for its appearance in the stable version.
