Genesis showcased the production GV60 Magma: 650 hp, virtual gears, and drift mode
Genesis officially unveiled the production version of its first "charged" electric crossover — the GV60 Magma. The manufacturer promises that the new model will be a starting point for relaunching the brand in the "luxury high-performance" segment.
What is known
The GV60 Magma is built on the same platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N. The vehicle is powered by two electric motors with a combined power output of 641 hp and a torque of 790 Nm. However, such figures are available only for 15 seconds with the activation of the Boost mode. In normal mode, the crossover delivers 601 hp and 740 Nm.
The Launch Control system allows acceleration to 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds. The maximum speed is 264 km/h. In addition, Genesis has added several interesting features: a virtual gear-shifting simulation, Drift mode, and a battery temperature control system that helps sustain load during track sessions.
The battery is likely to be the same as in the Ioniq 5 N — with a capacity of 84 kilowatt-hours. Hyundai claims that it can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes from a powerful terminal.
Externally, the GV60 Magma differs from the standard version: it is 2 cm lower and wider due to the expanded wheel arches. Exclusive 21-inch forged wheels hide massive brake mechanisms. The suspension has been retuned for better balance between handling and comfort.
Genesis consciously avoided aggressive design. The company states that they aimed for an image of "hidden strength." In practice, this means a new rear spoiler, revamped bumpers, and black glossy trim elements. Inside, there are sports seats and Chamude material resembling suede.
Special attention is given to the digital dashboard: in "Magma" mode, it displays engine and battery temperatures, speed, and g-forces.
In South Korea, the GV60 Magma will appear at the beginning of 2026. Later that year, the model will be released in North America and Europe.
