Meta changes Facebook rules: posts in groups are now available under a pseudonym
Meta introduces a new feature for Facebook groups. Participants can now post under a pseudonym and with a personalized avatar, without being tied to their real name.
What is known
To activate a pseudonym, users can use the same switch that previously allowed creating anonymous posts. The feature must be pre-enabled by group administrators.
Pseudonyms must comply with community standards and Facebook terms of service. Besides a name, users can choose an avatar. Meta offers a set of illustrations, including, for example, cute animals in sunglasses.
Groups remain one of the areas Facebook actively develops in recent years. In 2024, the company added a tab with local events, and recently also introduced tools to turn private groups into public ones.
