Citroën unveiled at the São Paulo Auto Show an unexpected development — the Basalt Vision concept. The compact coupe-crossover with a provocative design will serve as the basis for a production model.

What's Known

Citroën Basalt Vision is based on the Citroën Basalt, the coupe version of the Citroën C3 for South American markets. The car received numerous accessories giving it a rebellious character. Ground clearance is reduced, the "Vision" inscription is placed on the front doors, and the protective plate is darkened, as are the brand's signature chevrons.

The novelty features 18-inch wheels with red brake calipers. The lower part of the doors is accented with striped motifs. The rear has a darkened LED strip connecting textured lights and topped with a compact spoiler.

Below, a massive black diffuser with a Formula 1-style central light and dual chrome exhausts emphasize the sporty philosophy of the Basalt Vision.

The main body color, Jaune Ambré, is combined with Rouge André accents on strategic elements: the spoiler above the rear window, the lower part of the grille, and the rear body pillars. The roof is painted black and complemented by a shark fin antenna. The front headlights are in a V-shape with full LED technology.

Citroën did not reveal details of the Basalt Vision's interior. It is assumed that the design will be close to the production Basalt, which borrows solutions from the South American C3: a large touchscreen and a digital driver display combined with a minimalist front panel.

Information about the powertrain is also undisclosed. It is likely that the Basalt Vision will be equipped with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with 130 horsepower, already used in the production Basalt, paired with an automatic transmission.

The commercial launch of the car in Europe is not planned. The model is designed specifically for South American markets.
