Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging and Starbucks have officially opened their first joint direct current fast charging station on the I-5 freeway in Red Bluff, California.

What is known

Mercedes-Benz chargers with a power of 400 kW can add up to 300 miles (about 480 km) of range in 10 minutes, depending on the electric vehicle model. Each post is equipped with cables with NACS (Tesla) and CCS standard connectors. Thus, they are suitable for a wide range of models.

The Interstate 5 (I-5) is the main north-south interstate highway on the west coast of the United States, mostly running parallel to the Pacific coast of the continental US from Mexico to Canada. Mercedes-Benz HPC first announced plans to install charging stations at Starbucks on I-5 in July 2024.

In the future, Mercedes plans to install fast charging stations at 100 Starbucks locations throughout the United States.

As of the end of 2024, Mercedes-Benz HPC has launched more than 150 fast charging stations in the US.
