Shoei GT-Air 3 Smart is on Sale — the First Motorcycle Helmet with Augmented Reality
The Japanese company Shoei has introduced the world's first motorcycle helmet with a fully integrated augmented reality system.
The model is named GT-Air 3 Smart and is created in collaboration with the French company EyeLights.
What is Known
The device is made in the form of a traditional motorcycle helmet, but instead of protective glass, a display is mounted that displays key information, allowing motorcyclists not to be distracted by the dashboard or smartphone.
Main features of GT-Air 3 Smart:
- The built-in nano-OLED display projects speed, navigator prompts, radar warnings, and incoming calls at a notional distance of 3 meters in front of the driver's eyes;
- The image remains clear even in bright sunlight;
- Built-in speakers, noise-canceling microphone, and universal communication device support online and offline modes;
- Integration with voice assistants allows for hands-free control of functions.
Unlike models where AR systems are installed additionally, this technology is integrated by the manufacturer.
Shoei positions the GT-Air 3 Smart as a revolution in the motorcycle helmet segment — it is not only a necessary accessory but also a full-fledged gadget that combines the functions of a navigator, headset, and HUD display.
For the motorcycle equipment market, this is a step towards creating "smart" helmets that can improve driver safety and convenience — according to developers, using the AR display reduces motorcyclist reaction time by 32%.
The GT-Air 3 Smart motorcycle helmet is now available on the global market at a price of around $1200.
