The Finnish company HMD Global and the Norwegian brand Xplora have announced an unusual gadget positioned as 'your child's first smartphone.'

What is known

The novelty is called XploraOne and supports only basic functions: it can make and receive calls, text communication, send voice messages, take photos, supports several useful applications (calculator, clock, alarm clock, flashlight), and has extensive parental controls.

Why is it 'the child's first smartphone'? — it lacks the ability to install social networks, third-party apps, and browsers, which should protect the young user from early exposure to social networks and undesirable content.

Moreover, XploraOne has a compact size and a durable body, making it resistant to drops or impacts. Xplora has significant experience in producing durable gadgets, having previously released children's smartwatches.

Technical details, pricing, and release date of the XploraOne are not yet available.
