Porsche has resumed production of legendary fabrics for classic models
The iconic fabric patterns Pasha, Tartan, and Pepita and others are again available in the original Porsche quality.
What is known
The interiors of a number of historical and more modern sports cars from the 356 to the 911 can now be restored to their original condition. Fabrics are available for order at Porsche dealerships and through the Porsche online shop.
Porsche fabrics allow the interior to be restored to its original condition, whether restoration was required due to wear or due to the installation of a historically incorrect interior design. The original source of information about the original specification is the technical certificate for classic Porsche cars.
Like other original Porsche parts, the new "old" textile materials meet the manufacturer's quality standards. This concerns tactile sensations and durability, as well as the accuracy of patterns and color combinations. In addition, the reissued fabrics undergo a series of tests, such as for fire resistance, lightfastness, and color fastness, abrasion resistance. This makes them optimal for a wide range of applications in car interiors, such as in seat covers or side panels. Fabrics are available in a size of 1.5 by 2 meters.
The main source of information for these reissues was the company's archive. Porsche also located rare warehouse samples. For example, in the US, experts found an untouched 1975 911 seat, upholstered in green plaid fabric. It was stored in a lightproof cabinet and is perfectly preserved.
