Finally, after a huge number of rumors, speculations, conjectures, and leaks, Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold — its first double-folding smartphone (with a triple internal display) and the second such gadget on the market after the Huawei Mate XT.

The Korean manufacturer showcased the first high-quality images of the device and revealed its key specifications.

What is known

The Galaxy Z TriFold folds twice, not in the shape of an 'N', but with the left and right displays folding inward.

The new Samsung can transform from a compact smartphone into a full-fledged tablet with a 10” AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2160×1584 and a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. When folded, a 6.5” OLED display is available with the usual 21:9 format.

Each of the three panels of the TriFold is different in thickness — from 3.9 to 4.2 mm. When folded, the smartphone is 12.9 mm thick, while the Mate XT is 12.8 mm. The Samsung smartphone weighs 309 grams, which is 11 grams heavier than a similar device from Huawei.

The smartphone is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite (for Galaxy) chipset (not Gen 5!) and has up to 16 GB of RAM. Samsung DeX interface support allows the gadget to be used as a mini-PC. The 5600 mAh battery supports fast charging at 45W, and for the first time, a charger is included with the foldable model from Samsung.

Galaxy Z TriFold comes with the following set of cameras:

  • Main sensor 200 MP, ƒ/1.7;
  • 12 MP wide-angle lens;
  • 10 MP telephoto lens with triple optical zoom;
  • Two 10 MP front cameras (on the external and internal display).

The case protection meets the IP48 standard, and the new Armor FlexHinge hinge provides structure durability. Additional warnings for incorrect device assembly are provided.

When to expect

Sales of the Galaxy Z TriFold begin in South Korea on December 12, and shortly after, the smartphone will be available in the UAE and Taiwan, with a US launch expected in early 2026. The timing of the smartphone's release in Europe is unspecified, as is the device's cost, although insider information suggests it will be $2399, while the only similar smartphone, the Huawei Mate XT, released on the global market in early 2025, is priced at €3499.
