Hyundai Motor Group showcased MobED (Mobile Eccentric Droid), its first production mobile robotic platform developed by the Robotics LAB division, at the International Robot Exhibition 2025 (iREX 2025) in Tokyo.

What is Known

The autonomous mobile robot is equipped with AI-based navigation, LiDAR rangefinders, and cameras, as well as a position control mechanism for stable and adaptive movement across different surfaces.

MobED is available in two configurations: MobED Pro and MobED Basic. The former stands out with enhanced autonomy, additional sensors, and supports the "follow me" mode. This model is more suitable for outdoor use or in commercial settings where reliable autonomous navigation is required.

The Basic version serves as a foundation for research and development. It allows users to create their own applications without pre-installed autonomy features.

The wide touchscreen controller with a voluminous UI/UX allows MobED to self-map, specify location, and operate the platform autonomously.
