From Cook to Zuckerberg: Apple's Chief Interface Designer and Liquid Glass Creator Alan Dye Joins Meta
Bloomberg: Tim Cook is not going to retire — the Apple leader will remain in his position until the end of Trump's presidential term, but the American company will still lose one of its most valuable employees. As reported by reputable Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the corporation will be left by the leading hardware designer Alan Dye.
What is known
Gurman reported that as of December 31, Dye will become the head of a specially created studio at Meta, which will focus on developing a new interface, combining design, fashion, and technology, as well as integrating AI into the company's products and creating new hardware and software solutions.
Alan Dye has been working at Apple since 2006, and since 2015 he has led the user interface (UI) design team — he was the head of the Liquid Glass design development and presented the interface at WWDC 2025. Dye also played a direct role in the creation of the interface and visual design of the iPhone X, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro mixed reality headset.
It is already known who will take Alan Dye's place. Tim Cook, in a comment to Bloomberg, said it will be Stephen Lemay, who has been with the company since 1999 and participated in the development of every major Apple interface.
