Amazon has officially announced the launch date for its new Kindle Scribe and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft e-readers. Both devices will be available for sale on December 10.

What is Known

The new version of the Kindle Scribe features an 11-inch anti-glare display, a thickness of only 5.4 mm, and a weight of 400 grams. Thanks to the new quad-core chip and upgraded Oxide display, the device is 40% faster when writing and turning pages. The textured glass surface simulates paper friction, creating the effect of "live" writing. The reader will be available in two versions: with backlighting starting at $500 (from December 10) and without backlighting in early 2026 for $430.

Amazon paid special attention to the color model, Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. This device is built on new technology that displays soft colors without eye strain, as seen in LCD displays. Additionally, Colorsoft has a special engine for improved color rendering and natural handwriting, as well as a new shader for artists. It supports 10 pen colors and 5 marker colors. Price starts at $630.

Both models support a new "home" interface for quick access to notes, books, and documents. In 2026, Amazon will add the ability to send Alexa+ notes and receive explanations via artificial intelligence. Among the new features: "Story So Far" for a concise summary of what you've read and "Ask This Book" – answers to plot questions without spoilers.
