Xiaomi 17 Ultra photoflagship to receive a limited Leica Leitzphone series — indicated by mention in the GSMA database
A new batch of information about the upcoming Xiaomi 17 Ultra photoflagship has appeared online, which not only confirmed the Insider confirmed the imminent global release of Xiaomi 17 smartphones and an as yet unreleased Ultra model, but also revealed that the novelty will have a limited model.
What is known
The GSMA database has found mention of a model with the number 2512BPNDAG and internal code P1 — most likely hiding under this designation is the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. Later another modification appeared — 25128PNA1G with the code name P1S. The letter S indicates a special version, and GSMA calls this device the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi.
Consequently, the international version of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will receive a limited Leica Leitzphone series — perhaps the full name of the model sounds like Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition or Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Leitzphone Edition.
Usually, such models receive a photo set with a convenient case that makes the smartphone externally resemble a traditional camera, but so far nothing is known about the contents of Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi.
According to rumors, Insider: Xiaomi 17 Ultra photo flagship will receive high-end optics with new Leica lens coating with new Leica lens coating, and not a system of four sensors like its predecessor:
- Main camera of 50 MP, possibly a 1" OmniVision OV50X sensor;
- Periscopic telephoto lens of 200 MP;
- Ultra-wide camera of 50 MP.
In terms of specifications, the smartphone will be almost indistinguishable from the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and will get the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, as well as a 6.8″ flat OLED display with 2K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, but will be left without an additional rear display, freeing up space for a huge round camera block. It is likely that Xiaomi 17 Ultra will receive a battery of 6000-7000 mAh
When to expect
It is expected that Xiaomi will present its Ultra model along with the global version of the basic Xiaomi 17 by the end of December.
