Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Death Stranding 2 Named Best Games by Time Magazine
Time Magazine has published its own Top 10 best games of 2025, and although its leader was predictable, several positions caused surprise.
What is Known
Predictably, Time journalists consider Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 the best game of the year. According to them, this game unexpectedly achieved sensational success that few anticipated. Just over thirty developers released a top-class project that combines superb aesthetics, complex gameplay, an unusual combination of mechanics, and a captivating plot.
In second place is Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Hideo Kojima’s game was praised for its humanistic message, engaging storyline, and “grand concepts.”
In third place on Time's list is another PS5 exclusive — Ghost of Yotei, which combines an interesting storyline, complex combat system, and the most beautiful aesthetics of feudal Japan.
The top three leaders raise no questions — these are really top-notch games, but some positions on the list may spark discussions. No, we are not talking about Hollow Knight: Silksong, it absolutely deserves its place on the list, although many believe it deserves top spots. The inclusion of Lost Records: Bloom Rage — an interactive dramatic film from Don't Nod studio, which went unnoticed by most gamers, and those who tried it did not feel much enthusiasm, looks ambiguous. And DOOM: The Dark Ages, with all due respect to the franchise, is hard to call a contender for Game of the Year, while Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Hades 2, and Dispatch didn't find a place at all.
