Nissan introduced the large SUV NX8 in China
Nissan has introduced a new SUV in China, developed in cooperation with Dongfeng. The model, called NX8, will be offered with a choice of electrified powertrains.
What is known
The exterior design of the crossover follows the same stylistic language as the N6 and N7 sedans: clean surfaces and a grille-less front panel. Daytime running lights stretch across the entire width through the split headlights and wrap around the front fenders. At the rear, OLED lights stretch across the entire width of the vehicle.
The length of the NX8 is 4870 mm, the width is 1920 mm, the height is 1680 mm, and the wheelbase is 2917 mm. This makes it 222 mm longer than the X-Trail and 152 mm shorter than the Pathfinder.
The images show sensors and a lidar on the roof, hinting at advanced driver assistance systems. Nissan has not yet shown the interior, but it is expected to replicate the layouts of the N6 and N7 models. One can expect a large touchscreen and soft-touch materials.
Nissan confirmed that the NX8 will be classified as an NEV (New Energy Vehicle). The specifications of the model were recently published by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China.
Fully electric versions will be available in 292 hp (215 kW) and 340 hp (250 kW) modifications. A range extender version will also be offered, combining a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 148 hp (109 kW) with an electric motor of 265 hp (195 kW).
All N8 variants will use the latest CATL lithium iron phosphate batteries. Range and battery capacity figures have not yet been revealed, but it is reported that they support ultra-fast charging.
The launch of the Nissan NX8 in the Chinese market is scheduled for the first half of 2026, with prices to be announced closer to that date. Like the N6 and N7 sedans, the crossover is reportedly going to be exported to other markets in the near future.
As for prices, we will have to wait for official data, but judging by the N6 and N7, they are likely to remain in a very competitive range. For example, the N7 costs from 119,900 to 149,900 yuan, or approximately from $17,000 to $21,200.
