Intel has signed a $14 billion contract with India's Tata Electronics for the joint development of semiconductor manufacturing. Factories for the production and packaging of chips are planned to be built in the states of Gujarat and Assam. Although the exact processes are not yet disclosed, they are expected not to be the most modern.

What is Known

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is at an initial stage, and project implementation may take several years. The agreement envisages expanding activities in the Indian technology sector, which has not yet attracted leading chip manufacturers like TSMC or Samsung. The partnership includes launching production and creating a full cycle of local technology chain.

In addition to chip production, Intel and Tata plan joint development of AI-based solutions for personal computers aimed at local needs.
