The Dutch company Fairphone, known for its eco-friendly and repairable smartphones, has introduced the second generation of full-size wireless headphones, the Fairbuds XL.

What is known

The main feature of the new product is the retention of its modular design, allowing users to independently replace key components: drivers, battery, ear cushions, headband, and even dynamic emitters. This makes the purchase of Fairbuds XL attractive, as the device's lifespan can be significantly extended without buying a new model.

Key improvements

  • new 40-mm dynamic drivers with updated tuning, providing richer bass and accurate reproduction of mid and high frequencies;
  • possibility to install new drivers (even in the previous version of Fairbuds XL) — they are sold separately;
  • active noise cancellation (ANC) and support for aptX HD codecs for quality wireless sound;
  • Bluetooth 5.1 with Multipoint allows you to connect the headphones to two devices;
  • automatic shutdown after 30 minutes of inactivity, helping to save battery;
  • IP54 protection, resistant to dust and splashes;
  • up to 30 hours of battery life without ANC and about 20 hours with noise cancellation on;
  • warranty extended to three years (previously it was two).

The second generation of Fairbuds XL is available in Europe at a price of about €249. The company also sells separate modules: left driver — €61.95, right driver — €39.95.
