The iconic Razer Boomslang gaming mouse returns with a revamped design and modern features
The company Razer marked its 20th anniversary with the release of the Boomslang 20th Anniversary Edition — a reissue of the world's first specialized gaming mouse, which debuted back in 1999.
The original Boomslang became a symbol of the birth of esports: its unusual snake head-shaped design and 2000 DPI sensor set new standards for the industry. The mouse was the first product under the Razer brand, but at the time it existed as a project of Kärna LLC, and by 2005 Razer had gained independence.
What is known
The anniversary version retained the recognizable silhouette and translucent body but received up-to-date technologies. It is based on the Razer Focus Pro 45K Gen-2 optical sensor with a sensitivity of up to 45,000 DPI and an accuracy of 99.8%. The mouse supports HyperPolling Wireless with a polling rate of up to 8000 Hz, providing minimal latency and maximum responsiveness. Razer Gen-4 optical switches are used, rated for 100 million clicks, as well as proprietary Chroma RGB lighting with nine zones and an underglow effect.
Special attention is paid to design: the buttons are trimmed with faux leather for better grip, and the package includes a Mouse Dock Pro with wireless charging support.
The circulation of the Boomslang 20th Anniversary Edition will be only 1337 copies, emphasizing its status as a collectible product. The cost of the mouse is not yet announced, but according to insiders it will be $300–350.
