Apple is preparing to unveil the second generation of the Studio Display monitor almost four years after the launch of the first model. According to data found in the iOS 26 beta code, the Studio Display 2 will receive at least three significant updates.

What is known

The system features a new device with the code name "J527." The first improvement is an increase in refresh rate from 60 to 120Hz thanks to ProMotion support. This means that the display will be able to adapt the frame rate to the content, providing smoother images when watching videos or working with graphics.

The second major change will be support for HDR content. This indicates the possible use of mini-LED backlighting, which is already used in the Pro Display XDR and MacBook Pro. This technology allows for peak brightness of up to 1600 nits and provides better contrast and deeper blacks.

The third update concerns the processor. Instead of the Apple A13, the new monitor will receive an A19 chip. Although details about its functionality are not yet available, improved performance is expected, which may affect video processing, audio, and smart monitor features.

According to new data, the Apple Studio Display 2 could hit the market in the first half of 2026.
