Amazon and Crystal Dynamics announced a remake of the first Tomb Raider and unveiled the first teaser of the new game Tomb Raider: Catalyst
As promised, The Game Awards 2025 presented the “future of the Tomb Raider franchise”. However, it turned out that gamers were also in for an unexpected return to Lara Croft's past.
What is known
The leak of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis was fully confirmed: Amazon Game Studios and Crystal Dynamics presented a remake of the very first game about the British adventurer, released in 1996. Players will be offered completely recreated locations in Greece, Egypt, Peru, and other iconic places on Unreal Engine 5, but now Lara Croft's adventures look incredibly technological and cinematic — dinosaurs are now much more detailed, and the heroine's bust is no longer triangular.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will be released in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
Right after the remake, the public was introduced to the first teaser of the completely new game Tomb Raider: Catalyst, rumors of which appeared several years ago — its events will indeed unfold in India.
Lara Croft's actions will cause a certain mystical cataclysm and awaken ancient mechanical guardians who protected treasures. The girl will try to defeat this threat, but her task is complicated by a ruthless group of treasure hunters who pursue her.
The release of Tomb Raider: Catalyst is expected in 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
