Google and Apple have implemented emergency updates to their products. The number of affected users is currently unknown.

What is known

On Wednesday, Google released patches for several vulnerabilities in the Chrome browser. One of them was actively exploited by attackers until the company managed to fix it. Although Google usually discloses details immediately, this time the company did so only on Friday when it updated the information. It then became known that the vulnerability was jointly discovered by Apple specialists and the Google Threat Analysis Group, which monitors the activities of government hackers and commercial spyware tools.

At the same time, Apple released security updates for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro, Apple TV, Apple Watch, and the Safari browser. Two vulnerabilities were eliminated for mobile devices. Apple states that one of them could have been used in a "highly sophisticated attack against specific targeted users" who had not updated to iOS 26.

Zero-day attacks are often used against specific individuals using spyware like NSO Group or Paragon.
