Apple Released iOS 26.2: New Features for Podcasts, AirDrop, Liquid Glass, and More

Apple has updated the iOS operating system to version 26.2. Among the innovations: changes in the interface, functionality of multimedia applications, and vulnerability fixes. Updates have also been released for iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, visionOS, and tvOS.

What is known

The Podcasts app now includes auto-generated chapters for episodes, as well as links to other podcasts mentioned during listening. For AirDrop, a verification code feature has appeared, providing confirmation of file transfers. In Reminders, a notification function for tasks has been added.

A transparency slider for the Liquid Glass feature has appeared on the lock screen. In Apple Music, you can now see favorite tracks in the Top Picks section, and song lyrics are available offline.

In Games, score banners and filters in the library have been implemented for easy searching. Support for Backbone and Razer controllers has been updated. The emergency alert system has been updated. Now they include zone maps and additional information. Apple also reports on the elimination of vulnerabilities in WebKit that could have been used in attacks on previous versions of iOS.

In macOS Tahoe 26.2, the Edge Light feature has appeared, which turns the screen into a backlight for video calls. In watchOS 26.2, a bug with track freezing in Music has been fixed and new controls for the Sleep app have been added. tvOS now allows the creation of profiles even for users without an Apple ID, and also includes new restriction options for children's profiles.

In version 26.2 for visionOS, Travel Mode for use on buses and in cars has appeared, as well as support for spatial accessories, including the Logitech Muse. They can be used in Notes, Freeform, and other apps for drawing with PencilKit support.
