Google has started removing AI-generated videos depicting Disney characters from YouTube. This happened after Disney sent the company an official letter demanding a Disney Accuses Google of Using Its Characters for AI Training.

What is known

According to Variety, dozens of videos containing images of Deadpool, Moana, Mickey Mouse, Star Wars heroes, and other characters owned by Disney were removed by the end of the week. The letter accuses Google not only of hosting such videos on YouTube but also of using clips from Disney movies to train AI models, including Veo and Nano Banana.

Previously, Disney had filed lawsuits against Character.AI, Midjourney, and Hailuo for similar infringements. At the same time, the company does not refuse to use artificial intelligence. As part of the agreement, Disney characters will be integrated into ChatGPT and Sora, and AI-generated short films will also appear on Disney+.
