Sony and Bungie studio shared important news about the ambitious Extraction shooter Marathon, which was supposed to be released in September 2025, but after closed beta testingThings are bad with Marathon: Bungie has postponed the release of the scandalous shooter indefinitely.

What is known

The developers released an extended video confirming that they plan to release Marathon in March 2026 and sell the game for $40.

Bungie took into account the feedback from the testers: the tone of the game became darker, more quests and records were introduced that reveal the backstory. You can play solo or in a company of up to three players.

In Marathon, events unfold on the planet Tau Ceti IV, which is divided into four zones — they have varying difficulty, and the biggest challenge awaits gamers on the UESC Marathon spaceship. Players will receive tasks from representatives of different factions, and valuable rewards and bonuses are provided for their completion, while characters will reveal even more nuances of the Marathon universe.

In the game, the most accurate shooter is not always the winner; for success during forays, it is necessary to properly assess the situation and one's own capabilities, know the landscape, understand the potential of one's equipment, and, of course, a well-coordinated team effort increases the chance of survival.

Marathon will be released on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
