Creators of Hollow Knight: Silksong Announce Major Free DLC Sea of Sorrow and Work on Native Version of the Original Game for Nintendo Switch 2
Indie studio Team Cherry shared important news about the highly acclaimed metroidvania Hollow Knight: Silksong, which has captured the hearts of audiences and was awarded the title of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 named Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2025 and wins eight more prestigious awards.
What is known
The developers announced that in 2026, the game will receive a major expansion Sea of Sorrow, where players will be able to visit unexplored locations, fight against powerful enemies and bosses, and receive other important innovations — all completely free for all Silksong owners.
Additionally, it has become known that Team Cherry is currently working on a native version of the original Hollow Knight for Nintendo Switch 2. The 2017 game is currently running on the new hybrid console through backward compatibility, but soon users will be able to update it completely free of charge and get a more technological version. The release dates are not yet specified.
