Meta has introduced a separate Instagram app for Amazon Fire TV. It is exclusively focused on Reels. This means that short vertical videos can now be watched on a big screen without touching the phone.

What is known

The app is available in the Amazon App Store for American users. You can log into Instagram through an existing account or create a new one specifically for TV. The app supports up to five accounts and takes into account age restrictions for teenagers.

According to Fire TV Vice President Aidan Markass, the company's goal is "to provide access to interesting content on big screens as quickly as possible." He added that the Instagram team created a "fantastic TV experience," and Fire TV became the first platform where this feature appeared.

Reels in the interface are divided into themes, such as sports moments or travel discoveries. Videos launch automatically, so nothing needs to be switched manually. Meta clarifies that the app is still being tested, and the format may change.

Instagram Reels on TV are already available in the US on the Fire TV Stick (HD, 4K Plus, 4K Max), as well as on Fire TV models in the 2-Series, 4-Series, and Omni QLED. In the future, Meta plans to expand support to other countries and devices.
