Nissan announced that it will be the first in the US to offer vehicles with wireless charging devices of the Qi2 standard. The Pathfinder and Murano 2026 SUVs will receive them.

What is known

The Qi2 wireless charging device is equipped with a protruding magnetic ring that accurately positions the smartphone relative to the induction pad for optimal performance. It is compatible with iPhone starting from model 12, Google Pixel 10 and newer, as well as other Android devices with appropriate cases.

Nissan explained that precise alignment is critically important for wireless charging. Even a few millimeters can significantly reduce performance.

The charger has a cooling fan that lowers the temperature of both the device and the smartphone. According to the company, the system provides stable power up to 15W compared to 5W in "many chargers" of the previous generation.

Internal tests showed that the charging time from 10% to 90% decreased from four hours to just over 90 minutes. The LED indicator shows the charging status: steady orange - charging, green - fully charged, flashing orange - foreign object detected.
