KLM has commissioned new Goldhofer electric tow tractors for towing aircraft at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (Netherlands). Thus, the company has taken another step towards achieving the goal of transitioning to zero-emission ground handling by 2030.

What is known

The Goldhofer Phoenix AST2E replaces current diesel models and offers greater versatility compared to existing electric tractors. The new tractors can push and tow both small aircraft and large liners, including the Boeing 777.

The new tractors produce no harmful emissions, are almost silent, and are more comfortable for drivers thanks to improved suspension. KLM claims that these features improve working conditions and have an immediate positive impact on air quality on the apron.
