Stylish Photo Flagship Xiaomi 17 Ultra Debuts in China with Huge Main Sensor, Leica Cameras and Top-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Chip
The full presentation of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has taken place — a smartphone that, as stated, “will revolutionize the photo flagship market.”
The Chinese company has revealed the gadget's specifications and price and announced the start of sales.
What is known
Xiaomi 17 Ultra became the company's first Ultra flagship with a flat AMOLED screen, its diagonal is 6.9” with a peak brightness of 3500 nits.
As expected, the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and scored 3559 points in the Geekbench single-core test and 10,854 points in the multi-core test (version with 12 GB RAM) — this puts the 17 Ultra on par with the most powerful devices of 2025.
The main focus of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is on the camera. The model received an updated Leica system, which includes a 1” main Omnivision OV50X sensor with LOFIC technology, a 50 MP wide-angle camera, and a 200 MP Samsung HPE telephoto lens with an optical format of 1/1.4”. The camera allows recording 4K video at 120 FPS.
For photography fans, there is a special edition of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition with a physical Master Zoom ring — a unique element that allows manual focal length adjustment.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra received a 6800 mAh battery with 90W wired charging support and 50W wireless charging.
The smartphone received maximum dust and water protection according to the IP69 standard, supports NFC and UWB (Xiaomi 17 Ultra can be used as a key for a Xiaomi electric car).
Buyers are offered four Xiaomi 17 Ultra body colors: black, white, pink shade, and emerald:
Today — December 25 — sales of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra begin in China at the price (converted from yuan):
- 12/512 GB — $990;
- 16/512 GB — $1060;
- 16 GB/1 TB — $1200.
Xiaomi confirmed that the cost of the model significantly increased — by about $200 compared to last year's Xiaomi 15 Ultra, but the retail price will only increase by $70, as the company decided to take some of the costs upon itself. The cost increase is primarily due to the increase in the price of RAM chips.
There were earlier rumors about the imminent global release of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, but the company has not yet officially confirmed this.
