Xiaomi announced the opening of a new highly automated factory that operates in complete darkness and without human intervention — it has become one of the most technologically advanced enterprises in the company's ecosystem.

The factory produces large smart home appliances and combines design, development, and mass production under one roof. The new facility continues the company's strategy to expand its own industrial cluster and reduce dependence on outside contractors.

What is known

The Xiaomi factory in Wuhan represents a fully autonomous production complex operating 24/7 without human intervention. The enterprise uses a combination of artificial intelligence, IoT systems, and big data, which allows automating the entire cycle — from assembly to quality control.

Notably, the Xiaomi factory operates in absolute darkness — robots and AI do not need lighting. The scale of production is such that an air conditioner comes off the assembly line every 6.5 seconds!

The company is actively developing the smart home segment and aims to accelerate the release of devices while improving quality and reducing costs, which is also facilitated by the absence of the need for lighting.
