The BYD Dolphin electric hatchback will enter the South Korean market in the first half of 2026 at a price of about 20 million won (approximately $14,000), BYD Korea reported. The same price is set for the model in China.

What is known

BYD has completed certification for the Dolphin and is currently determining the specific launch date of the vehicle in the country. Industry experts predict that the launch date will most likely be in late February next year, coinciding with the approval of subsidies for electric vehicles in South Korea for 2026.

Earlier this month, the BYD Dolphin reached a global sales milestone of one million units, becoming the third model in the Ocean series after the BYD Song Plus and Seagull to achieve this milestone.

Currently, BYD sells the compact crossover Atto 3 (known in China as Yuan Plus), the Seal sedan, and the Seal 7 crossover in the South Korean market.

The 2025 version of the BYD Dolphin has four configurations on the Chinese market, priced between 99,800 and 129,800 yuan (from $14,100 to $18,500).

The model features a front-wheel-drive layout and is equipped with BYD's proprietary Blade lithium iron phosphate battery, available in two versions: standard 44.9 kWh and extended capacity 60.4 kWh. The range under the CLTC cycle is 420 km and 520 km.

The synchronous electric motor with permanent magnets produces a maximum power of 70 kW (94 hp) and a peak torque of 180 Nm for the standard version, as well as 150 kW (201 hp) and 310 Nm for the extended range version. In fast DC charging mode, the battery charges from 30% to 80% in 28-29 minutes.
