The portable console Nintendo Switch 2 was released in June 2025, and since then many developers have complained that they cannot port their games to this device because the Japanese company does not provide them with devkits (working prototypes), and without them this process is almost impossible.

Finally, the situation with games for Switch 2 may change for the better.

What is known

Authoritative insider NateDrake reported that Nintendo has actively started sending Switch 2 devkits to partners around the world. Not everyone has received them yet, but the manufacturer promises to quickly fix the issue and provide game developers with the necessary equipment in sufficient quantity.

NateDrake noted that in the first months after the release of Switch 2, devkits were provided only to select studios, and related teams could not share devkits with each other. For example, Activision Blizzard immediately got the opportunity to port Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 to Switch 2, but they couldn't do the same with Call of Duty.

In the coming months, a large number of popular games releases on Switch 2 are expected, including Dispatch and some part of Call of Duty, and Nintendo is ramping up advertising for games from third-party developers.
