“Looks like art, works like magic”: Fraimic startup to showcase AI painting at CES 2026 that draws itself
The Fraimic startup is preparing to launch an unusual device called the Smart Canvas — a smart canvas based on a color E Ink display that generates images using AI from simple voice commands.
The developers announced that they will publicly demonstrate the Fraimic Smart Canvas for the first time at the international CES 2026 exhibition, which will take place from January 6 to 9.
What is known
Smart Canvas creates images without a smartphone, apps, or subscriptions: just touch the frame and state the description of the future picture.
Fraimic uses an image-generation model from OpenAI, and the device operates autonomously and can function for several years on a single charge thanks to the energy-efficient Spectra 6 color E Ink display. The canvas displays AI-generated images like real printed works — without backlighting, using natural reflected light, making the image resemble traditional wall paintings.
The device can also display photos uploaded from a smartphone.
Fraimic positions the Smart Canvas as “the first voice canvas” capable of turning users' ideas into visual works in seconds and emphasizes that their development is a decorative object, not a digital photo frame.
The canvases from Fraimic are expected to go on sale by early summer. The standard 13.3” version will be priced at $399, and the large 31.5” version will be priced at $999.
