At CES 2026, ASUS introduced the ROG XREAL R1 AR — the world's first augmented reality gaming glasses with micro-OLED Full HD panels and a 240 Hz refresh rate. The novelty was created in collaboration with XREAL and is positioned as an alternative to large-format gaming monitors.

What is known

The ROG XREAL R1 AR uses two micro-OLED displays with a resolution of 1920×1080 and a record-breaking 240 Hz frequency for AR glasses. The device creates a virtual display in front of the eyes with an impressive diagonal of 171”, located about four meters away, with a viewing angle of 57° and coverage of 95% of the user's focus zone.

These parameters make the glasses a complete replacement for a gaming monitor!

ASUS positions its AR glasses as a reimagining of the “Big Format Gaming Display” concept, which now does not require a big table and additional space — the device fits in a pocket.

The glasses connect via USB-C and are compatible with PCs, consoles, and portable devices, including the ROG Ally console.

The ROG XREAL R1 AR is equipped with electrochromic lenses that automatically adjust dimming based on lighting and gaze direction. Manual transparency adjustment is also available.

The spatial pinning function (three-step spatial pinning) allows you to “pin” the virtual screen in space so that it does not move with the user’s head — an important option for gaming and work.

ASUS paid special attention to audio. The glasses are equipped with the Sound by Bose system, which creates immersive 3D sound and enhances the sense of presence in games and while watching movies.

To expand compatibility, ASUS offers the ROG Control Dock, allowing quick switching between PCs and consoles with the press of a button.
