TCL Introduced NxtPaper 70 Pro — a smartphone with a matte display and the ability to switch between three display modes
At CES 2026, the Chinese company TCL introduced the NxtPaper 70 Pro smartphone, which became the next step in the development of the proprietary matte display technology NxtPaper.
Such a gadget will interest users who read a lot, work with text, or are looking for a smartphone with the most comfortable screen. The novelty combines the capabilities of a regular smartphone and a reading device, retaining a color display, high refresh rate, and stylus support.
What is known
The smartphone is equipped with a 6.9” Full HD+ display with a frequency of 120 Hz and brightness up to 900 nits. The NxtPaper 4.0 panel combines a matte anti-glare coating, blue light filtering, and flicker-free operation, ensuring comfort for the eyes. A separate NxtPaper button is located on the body, allowing you to instantly switch between Color Paper, Ink Paper, and Max Ink modes — from color "paper" display to almost E-Ink-like black and white.
The TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro supports the T-Pen stylus, which works with handwriting, notes when the screen is off, and AI functions like generating covers and visual elements. This makes the device a hybrid of a smartphone and a digital notebook.
The performance is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, and autonomy is provided by a 5200 mAh battery with support for 33 W charging. In Max Ink mode, the smartphone can stand by for up to 26 days.
Specifications are complemented by 8 GB of RAM and storage of 256/512 GB with the possibility of expansion via a microSD card.
The TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro has a modest set of cameras: a 50 MP main sensor with OIS and an additional 8 MP sensor, and a 32 MP front camera.
The smartphone will go on sale in February at a price of €339 for the 8 GB/256 GB version and €389 for the 8 GB/512 GB model.
