Sony and Honda unveiled the Afeela electric crossover — a competitor to the Tesla Model X
The joint venture of Sony and Honda — Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) — presented a new electric crossover under the Afeela brand. The model currently bears the working name Afeela Prototype 2026 and complements the Afeela 1 electric sedan.
What is known
The new prototype is a coupe-style crossover that differs significantly from the sedan with a higher and larger body. Meanwhile, the design maintains common features with Afeela 1. The model has a minimalist front end with a light strip across its width and without decorative grill imitations. The crossover's ground clearance is clearly higher than that of the sedan, and the prototype's body is designed in a two-tone configuration with a black roof.
SHM has partially disclosed technical details. It is known that the Afeela 1 is equipped with 40 sensors, including one lidar, 18 cameras, and nine radars for driver assistance systems. The company plans to bring the Afeela Intelligent Drive system to the fourth level of autonomy, where the car can drive itself in most conditions.
Afeela 1 is equipped with two electric motors, each with a power of 241 hp, all-wheel drive, and air suspension. The estimated range is 480 km. According to the company, the crossover will be at least equal to the sedan in power and dynamics.

Special emphasis is placed on multimedia capabilities. Afeela 1 will be the first car with native support for PS Remote Play, which allows you to run games from a home PlayStation directly in the car. This feature is expected to appear in the crossover as well.
The starting price of the Afeela 1 sedan is 89,900 USD. The crossover will obviously be more expensive. The production version should enter the US market in 2028.
