BMW iX3 will get an Alexa-based voice assistant that communicates like a living person
BMW announced that the second generation of the electric crossover iX3 will receive an updated version of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, based on Amazon Alexa+. The system will be available in Germany and the USA in the second half of this year.
What is known
The updated voice assistant supports more natural communication. BMW notes that users no longer need to be limited to fixed commands. Requests can be formulated in conversational form and linked together, clarifying details during the dialogue.
The BMW voice assistant is based on a generative artificial intelligence model. It analyzes requests and forms responses in free form, instead of reproducing pre-prepared phrases. A public demonstration of the technology will take place in the coming days at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026 in Las Vegas. After that, the technology will gradually be implemented in production cars.

In addition, BMW has implemented the ability to connect the voice assistant to a user's personal Amazon account. This provides access to additional services and content, including streaming music and real-time news updates, which can be controlled directly via voice.
