Many years ago, Blizzard was developing a shooter for the iconic StarCraft franchise, but abandoned this idea for a number of reasons. In recent years, information has sometimes appeared in the media that the American studio has returned to this idea, but no specifics about the game have been received.

Finally, the first details have emerged that will please gamers.

What is known

Reputable insider and Windows Central editor Jez Corden confirmed that Blizzard is indeed preparing a third-person shooter for StarCraft. Moreover, he has no doubt that the game will be presented in 2026 at the BlizzCon 2026 festival, which will take place in September.

Previously, in the book “Play Nice: The Rise, Fall, and Future Of Blizzard Entertainment” Jason Schreier reported that the development of the StarCraft shooter was headed by former Far Cry leader Dan Hay.

However, in 2025 it became known that the Korean publisher Media: Korean company Nexon will get the rights to create a game based on StarCraft franchise, so there is a possibility that this is the company working on the mentioned shooter, possibly in collaboration with Blizzard.
