At CES 2026, ASUS, together with smart glasses manufacturer XREAL, presented the ROG XREAL R1 AR device. This model is specifically geared towards gamers. It is based on the XREAL One Pro and features two major updates — a 240 Hz refresh rate and the new ROG Control Dock.

What is known

The ROG XREAL R1 is equipped with two micro-OLED displays with a resolution of 1920×1080 for each eye, a peak brightness of 700 nits, a 57° field of view, and support for 3 DOF. The device has built-in speakers tuned by Bose. One of the main updates is the increase in refresh rate from 120 to 240 Hz.

The package includes the ROG Control Dock with two HDMI 2.0 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4, simplifying connection and switching between PC, consoles, and other sources. The glasses can also be directly connected to compatible devices via USB-C, including the portable ROG Ally console.

In addition, the glasses can be connected directly to compatible devices, such as the ROG Ally X, via USB-C.

The device weighs 91 g. The design integrates electrochromic lenses: the user can change the degree of dimming with a single touch. Thanks to the support of three degrees of freedom, the AR display can be "fixed" in one position or allowed to move with the user.

The body also features RGB lighting. A compatible device with the appropriate performance is required to display images at 240 Hz. When connected to a PC, a virtual screen up to 171 inches can be created at a distance of 4 m.

ASUS and XREAL have not yet disclosed the start date of sales or the price of the R1. The previous model, XREAL One Pro, costs $650.
