Volkswagen increased the battery capacity of the e-Transporter electric van to 70 kWh
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has upgraded the e-Transporter and e-Caravelle electric vans by equipping them with a higher capacity battery of 70 kWh. This allowed the range to increase by approximately 13% — up to 380 km, as well as to increase the DC fast charging power to 125 kW and add an optional 4Motion all-wheel drive.
What is known
According to the manufacturer, the new high-voltage battery charges from 10 to 80% in about 30 minutes at a 125 kW station. This is about 10 minutes faster compared to the previous version.
The 4Motion all-wheel drive, which will be available from early 2026, combines a rear electric motor with an additional motor on the front axle. The system automatically distributes torque between the axles depending on conditions and works in conjunction with electronic stability control and traction control systems, improving traction on construction sites, wet roads, and dirt surfaces.

The all-wheel drive version will be offered in three power options: 100 kW, 160 kW, and 210 kW.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles notes that the updates are aimed at commercial clients transitioning to electric fleets. The e-Transporter and e-Caravelle are built on the same platform as the Ford E-Transit Custom, developed as part of the Volkswagen and Ford partnership.
