YouTube updated its advanced search tools. Now users can exclude Shorts, i.e. videos up to three minutes long, from the results. This will be useful for those looking for longer videos but encountering lots of short clips.

What is known

A new content type category has appeared in the filter menu. Users can remove Shorts from search results with one click. This will simplify the search for full-length reviews or explanatory videos.

In addition, YouTube changed the names of some options in the filters. The "Sort By" menu is now called "Prioritize", and "View Count" has been renamed "Popularity". The new version considers not only views but also other metrics, including watch time, which provides the algorithms with more data to determine relevance.

The company also removed two features. You can no longer search for videos uploaded in the last hour, and there is no option to sort content by rating. The updated filters have already started appearing in users’ interfaces.
